The ferry trip was great. We had to catch the fast ferry as its the only one running at this time of year. We had trouble finding our hotel for the next 3 nights. We walked up and down and then decided to ask the petrol station attendant who didn't speak any English but at least pointed us in the right direction. We decided to stop outside some shops in a small piazza and Cliff went looking to see if he could find the hotel. I turned around and looked at the scenery and was gob smacked to see the mountains across the water. Cliff came back soon after having found a tourist info centre and directions to our hotel. The hotel is in one of the small lanes in the middle of town and above a bar. At this time of year it's very quiet so we were not woken by any rowdy noises only the windows shaking as the wind got up overnight. In the morning it felt like the wind was coming off the snow but we decided to take the ferry across to Bellagio for the day. The tourist info centre had given us maps and walking tour info for both Bellagio and Menaggio so we had a great time following the map and learning about the points of interest which included churches as there are usually a few in each town. We met an English women travelling on her own and it was good to talk to someone with our sign language. We were sitting in the hotel restaurant watching the tv when the new pope was elected. It was strange as we couldn't understand what was being said but we were part of the action with a large number of men who had come in for dinner.
The following day we did the walk to Menaggio and really enjoyed the walk even though it was cold and windy. You will see that for the photos.
Our next stop is Venice for 2 weeks in an apartment, yaaaaa.
